Organizing An Event With Various Pool Party Games For Kids With Their Friends

By Tiffany Gill

There are not many things that beat summer heat like owning your own swimming pool full of bright blue water under a shade tree in your back yard. Often children will go to great lengths to make friends and invite them to come over and swim in it. Generally the more challenging things to do is finding good pool party games for kids and their playmates to play that will maintain their interest and involvement while still having fun.

When planning one of these get togethers, you do not need to spend a lot of money and in many cases a lot of time. What is important is that it is well thought out with activities that involve all the children so no one will feel left out. Doing this will not only help ensure more play dates but will ensure your place as a popular parent with happy friendly children.

One of the most critical items for any party is the theme. This is the thought or idea you are incorporating into it. It could be something as simple as a tropical theme with flowers or as complex as a superhero theme where everyone dresses like their favorite hero. Let your children brainstorm to come up with different ideas that make them happy. The idea is to let children use their imaginations to make it work.

Good decorations are a must have for a successful event. They are what generally sets the party's mood and for many children they often help build the excitement up for the party day. They should generally be simple to clean up, inexpensive and easy to make. A few basic streamers, an inflatable yard effect and a lei for every guest as they arrive.

Games are generally the best part of the experience. Parents and children can easily make some home made paper chains that help cut off different areas. You can have areas for the different games, around the pool, an eating area and a kids only and parents only area. It is always important to set ground rules to be followed so everyone has fun.

There are lots of good games to try out. Find the coin is where you drop a coin or other small object into the water and see who can bring it up the fastest. Balloon toss is where children toss a filled water balloon to each other using only a towel held between two people.

Another game is called hose limbo. For this two children hold up a hose while another walks under it. Whichever child goes the lowest wins. Another group game is called marco polo. An it player swims in the pool yelling marco with their eyes shut. The other children yell polo. When someone is tagged they become a new it person.

Always wait at least 30 min after eating before jumping back in the water. Try working in a pinata some time at the end of the day. Every kid there will love that. Remember to have good supervision. Pool party games for kids are suppose to be fun, supervision makes sure they stay that way.
